Göteborg Opera is set to stream a production of Wagner’s “Siegfried” between March 26—31, 2021.
The production, which is directed by Stephen Landgridge and conducted by Evan Rogister, will star Daniel Brenna in the title role alongside Dan Karlström as Mime, Anders Lorentzson (Act one and two) and Fredrik Zetterström (Act three) as The Wanderer, Ólafur Sigurdarson as Alberich, Mats Almgren as Fafner, Hege Høisaeter as Erda, Sofie Asplund as the Woodbird, and Ingela Brimberg as Brünnhilde.
Audiences will be able to check out Act one on March 26, Act two on March 27, and all three acts starting on March 28.
The opera will stream for free via opera.se.
“We were all glad to be working when so many colleagues across Europe had lost all their work and income. To be able to sing, act, play, and share the experience with an audience, even if they are not present in the same room: what joy. Never again will we take it for granted,” said Langridge of the preparation for this production in a press release. “We adapted our ways of working, maintaining distance at all times on and off stage, and it’s a tribute to the can-do attitude of the people at Göteborg Opera, and the positive engagement of the brilliant cast, that we were able to continue and produce what we all hope will be an exciting digital version of ‘Siegfried.’”
