Guildhall School of Music and Drama Announces Streaming Slate for Spring 2021

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the UK has announced that it will be providing free, digital programming for the Spring season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on opera-related content.

The series begins with a live recital featuring baritone James Newby and pianist Joseph Middleton. The duo will perform the world premiere of a European Concert Halls Organization commission by Judith Bingham.

Streaming Date: Jan. 29, 2021

The opera department will present Jonathan Dove’s “The Little Green Swallow” in a production directed by Martin Lloyd-Evans and conducted by Dominic Wheeler.

There will also be masterclasses by such artists as soprano Julia Bullock (who is Artist in Residence), mezzo-soprano Ann Murray and tenor Ronald Samm.
