Joyce DiDonato To Begin 2021 With Concert Tour in Spain

Celebrated American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato will start 2021 with a trio of concerts in Spain.

First in the line will be a concert at the Auditorio Príncipe Felipe de Oviedo on Jan. 8, followed by a concert at the Palau de la Música de Barcelona on Jan. 10. The final performance will be held at the Teatro Real de Madrid on Jan. 13, 2021.

Joyce DiDonato will be accompanied by pianist Craig Terry. The program for the concerts will include Haydn’s “Arianna a Naxos,” Mahler’s Rückert Lieder, “Morte col Fiero aspetto” from Hasse’s “Marc’ Antonio e Cleopatra;” “É Pur così in un giorno / Piangerò la sorte mia” from Handel’s “Giulio Cesare;” “Je vais mourir / Adieu fiere cité” from Berlioz’s “Les Troyens;” Giordani’s “Caro mio ben,” Parisotti and Rosa’s ” Se tu m’ami / Star Vicino;” Ellington, DeLange and Mills’ “(In My) Solitude;” and Guglielmi, Monnot and Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose.”

Joyce DiDonato’s most recent stage performances include the title role in Handel’s “Agrippina,” the role of Sesto in Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito” at the Metropolitan Opera House, and the role of Didon in Berlioz’s “Les Troyens” at the Wiener Staatsoper, among others.
